Get the funk out

January is almost over. Finally. Why is this always the longest month? Is it the letdown after the holidays? Is it returning to work after a long break from the holidays? Is it the monotonous weather and the snow's loss of allure? Is it feeling frumpy in my sweaters? I always find myself getting the winter blues right about now. I know I'll get un-funked in a month or so... but in the meantime I'm going to try to focus on the simple pleasures. I have a list of at least 100 somewhere (Maybe in Alicia's journal? We used to add to it almost every Sunday in the SDub) but I'll try to remember a few.

A few things that make Michelle happy...

Cold pizza and Coke for breakfast
Making fun of Utah hair
Watching toddlers fall asleep at the table (check out this recent one of Jake)
Disneyland
Getting mail
"Starting" when my 2nd baby is 3 months old and I'm worried that my 3rd baby is on its way
Watching Brady make Brad laugh
A quiet house
When my students actually get my jokes
Making fun of Utah accents
Finding misspellings on billboards
Chocolate-dipped strawberries (my friends made fun of me at Zupa's last night for getting SO excited about mine)
Listening to Kaiya sing herself to sleep
When Clint starts my car for me after game night
New mascara
New socks
Kaiya's unnaturally extensive vocabulary
Stealing candy bars from Brett's (my AP's) office
Naked movie night (how long has it been since we had one of those???)
Running "Prerrands" with Laurel
Piggy tails
and
People who look like animals

That's enough for now..... I'll add more later when I'm feeling blue again.

January is probably the closest that practicing Mormons get to experiencing a hangover. Especially there in UT with all the snow and clouds and cold. I feel you on that one.

Listening to Kaiya sing just about anywhere is on my short list. As is the Brad and Brady show. Nice list.

Valentine's Day photos

Valentine's Day seemed as good an excuse as any to schedule long-overdue photos for the kiddos. (And I'm posting all of my favorites because I can.  Also so that my mom and Marsha can tell me which ones they want me to print for them.) Ben was an absolute turd during this photo shoot, which is why I'm amazed these pictures turned out as good as they did.  I will have to Photoshop that sucker out of his hand when I order prints for the wall, though.  Here's our little GQ junior model...  Seriously, how could anyone stay mad at that face?  And here's Miss Kaiya!  She is growing up WAY too fast for my liking. This one is my favorite! So... once Ben finally cheered up, Kaiya acted up, and our attempts at getting a decent sibling photo were kinda' thwarted... This one will have to do :)

Christmas 2012

Christmas Eve We attempted to teach the Walker grandkids the nativity story by having them act it out.  Ben was uncooperative and the costumes need some work (my fault), but the kids were pretty cute nonetheless.  Ben cheered up when he got to play with this super friendly golden retriever puppy that my in-laws were babysitting/hiding (he was to be a Christmas surprise for some friends).  What is it about this breed that is so stinkin' cute!?    Kaiya decorated some cookies for Santa by emptying two jars of sprinkles. Christmas Day   Since we video taped the whole procession, we neglected to take too many pictures Christmas morning.  But here are a couple shots of the magic.  Among other things, Santa gave Kaiya a puppy... as real a puppy as she'll ever get, anyway :)   Santa also brought Ben his own little car which he's been driving around the basement for three days (alongside Kaiya on her new birt...
