our last day with the elder

I know it's been a while. But Christmas yielded very few photos, and it seems like everything exciting (or sad... crappy MTC) has already been documented by one or all of my family members. But here are a few pics of our last Lee family doo-dah. I like the one of Brad and my dad. The men in my life.

Okay, the next couple photos are from my family's belated Christmas gift exchange. It's a tradition in my family to give "fake" presents every year. I got the scariest Halloween decoration alley cat I've ever seen (mangy fir, missing eye, the whole she-bang). My mom has one just like it that has always scared the crap out of me.

Brad's gift was his old pair of flip flops. He honestly has about eight identical pairs of these. He has this weird phobia where he has to wear sandals in any shower that's not his own. I think nasty college boy showers scarred him for life. Anyway - he left them at my parents' house several months ago, and was actually really excited to have them returned.

Here are all of the Lee siblings just before Brett was torn from our side at the MTC. This is really the most bittersweet day in a missionary's family's life. If any of you have actually made it through the "Called to Serve" song without bawling, kudos.

The day we took my brother was the saddest day and the hardest 2 years. Hope that encourages you and lifts you up!! :) The good news is that the 2 years does come to an end and when they get home and get over the weird missionaryness, it's like they never left and even better. Good luck. :)

The gift idea is so fun! I love it! And about the MTC...well, I've had to do it twice now and I count both days as two of the darkest in my life. With my sister I was completely oblivious to the whole "ripped" apart moment and so most of the tears came after the MTC. With my brother I knew what was coming and was bawling from the time we left the house pretty much through the whole program. I still get emotional whenever I hear the "Called to Serve" song because of the memories of the MTC. Time flies though and he'll be home before you know it!

PS- Your hair is so cute! I love the bangs!

Michelle, my belle,
I think the two best Funny Santa gifts this year were the one to you, and the one to Dad. Wow! Those were great. I am already thinking of things for next year...
I love you and miss you already. Let's brainstorm on vacation plans.
Love,
Mom

Ahh, love the Lees. I still remember a Christmas gathering at the McC's when your family thought it was a 'white elephant". Oh how wrong you were...;) glad your fam carries on the tradition:)
