All I want for Christmas is a complete REM cycle

It's a little unnerving to feel so busy and so tired and yet so unaccomplished. How is it possible that I've done everything and nothing in the last month?

Needless to say, life has been crazy around here... finishing end of term grades... receiving much-needed help from family and friends... running on pure adrenaline for weeks... I feel like I'm just starting to get a hang of this mom-of-two-kids thing.

Anyhoo, I should probably fill you in on what we've been up to.

Kaiya dressed up as a peacock for her first trick-or-treating experience. She was pretty stinkin' adorable.

She's been a good helper with Ben and it's been funny watching her use her new found skills during playtime. For example, I caught her nursing and then burping her dolly.

She also spent an excessive amount of time swaddling a squash (Yep. I said squash.)and rocking it to sleep.

Little Ben is doing really well. He's already gained a couple pounds and grown an inch. He's a pretty happy baby, too. We are lucky! Here are some more current pictures of our little man.

I love how tiny he looks all curled up on his tummy.

He found his thumb briefly. I actually wouldn't mind a thumb-sucker; then I wouldn't have to haul binkies everywhere.

I tried to get some pictures of him awake the other day. Why is it that babies suddenly develop lazy eye when the camera comes out? I took two dozen picures and these are the only ones where he doesn't look like Sloth.

Oh, seriously too cute. Both of them! Love the peacock costume! One thing though, try to get a 6 yr old to stop sucking her thumb as her permanent teeth are growing in! ACK! Pull my hair out! :) It is seriously so cute when babies suck their thumbs though.

Oh I am laughing really hard at your comments, Kaiya's squash-baby, and your tendency to akin your babies to Sloth--as in, Sloth love Chunk. Good job, Mommy. :)

Your kids are so cute. I told Clint about the squash and he laughed out loud. That girl has some serious personality. Ben is so handsome too. I hope he starts sleeping better.

That little peacock costume is one of the cutest things I've ever seen! :) How cute that Kaiya wanted to nurse her doll. So funny! Glad to hear you are alive! :)

We just about died of cuteness at the peacock costume on Halloween. That's the best!

I hope you can get some sleep soon! It feels like forever when you are going through it and then one day they are just too big. I hope you get a thumb sucker, too. Daisy is one and she was my best baby.

love the post! Your kiddos are so dang cute! Love the pics of Kaiya...she is so beautiful and reminds me of you! I love the new pics of Ben. He is so adorable! They grow so fast...cherish every moment. I heard the Taylor Swift song a couple of weeks ago..."Never Grow Up" and cried like a baby. It dawned on me that devyn only has 4 more Christmases until she is off to college. :( Cuddle those babes! Give them each a kiss for me!
Love to you! remember: Sleep is for the Weak! (just kidding...I am deprived too....this early morning seminary is killing me)

I wish you sleep! I'm sorry and know what it's like when I don't get my sleep; it's ugly! Kaiya and her squash are hilarious! Seriously I am always loving stories about her! What a riot! Yes, Ben on his tummy looks so tiny...it seems like a few months ago that was Kaiya. I'm sure it seems like a few more sleepless nights for you, but like Larabelle, it seems fast to me.

Hang in there. The no sleep zombie mom months are short, even though it doesn't feel like it when you're living it!
