Wow.

Alicia is awesome for posting some pictures of Ben for me. It has been a crazy week and I'm finally getting around to looking at them myself.

So here's the story: I was adamant about not going into labor early... I actually had made a to-do list on Thursday, the length of which brought me to tears. What can I say? I've always been a procrastinator. Unfortunately, it looks like Ben has the Walkers' if-you're-not-early-you're-late mentality because he decided to come two weeks early just to teach me my lesson. At about one in the morning last Friday, I woke up to contractions. I didn't want to believe that's what they were and actually tried to go back to sleep. For five minute intervals. Anyway - after deliberating, waking up my hibernating husband (who, for the record, didn't believe me), and taking a very sleepy and confused Kaiya to Amy's, we made it to the hospital at 3:15. Ben was born at 4:01. (Yes, I barely had time for an epidural.) He is absolutely perfect, eating like a champion, and only woke up twice last night. Here's to hoping that lasts!

Here are some pictures from the hospital. Enjoy!
I love this one that Alicia took.

There's nothing more precious than a sleeping newborn! I'm actually holding a sleeping Ben right now while typing with one hand. It would make more sense to put him down but I don't want to :)

We never did get a shot of the whole family... sorry Kaiya.

Brad is a proud Daddy. I can't wait for that cast to come off so I can get some diaper-changing help!

Kaiya has been really cute with Ben. She went into my room today just to check on him in his cradle. She was up on her tiptoes peeking at him. This is lame, but it reminded me of the "La La Lu" scene in Lady and the Tramp. Except my daughter is human.

Hehe... look how excited she is!

Oh and day two in the hospital, I got a text from Laurel telling me that her water had broken! She delivered her healthy baby girl Saturday morning. She and I were originally due four days apart... I guess that Scarlett missed her cousin and wanted to come hang out. It was so crazy being in the hospital with my big sister!! All the nurses were making a big deal out of it; it was cute. My mom flew in Saturday afternoon to be with us and has been hopping from house to house these last few days. Good thing Laurel and I live so close to each other.

Whew. These last few days have just flown by! Ben already looks so different too. I will try to post new pictures soon.

I'd say Ben's pretty lucky in the "mom" department. Good work, M.
