CDs and Hormones

I think that I’m one of five Americans between the ages of 15-30 who doesn’t own an ipod. Therefore, I still like making mix CDs… and naming them, of course. These aren’t just your run-of-the-mill “Michelle’s awesome mix” and “Michelle’s radical mix” titles, my friends. A lot of thought – and alliteration – goes into the naming process.

Anyhoo, I’m trying to create a CD with good, happy baby songs...not for the baby to listen to, but for me. (As if I’m not emotional enough already, let's stick 20 sentimental songs in the CD player and see what happens.)

Here are some ideas that I have so far: Tim McGraw-“My Little Girl”, John Mayer -“Daughters”, James Taylor-“Sweet Baby James”.

Does anybody have any other ideas for me?

Cute idea! The only song I can think of off the top of my head is "My Girl"-Temptations. I made a "girl" playlist a while back with songs that have to do with girls. I will check it out and see if there are any other songs that fall into the "baby + girl" category.
And I love the nursery! So cute and professional! You will have to give me some painting tips. My vote is for vinyl above the stripes and three frames between the crib and the stripes. You could do a mirror over the changing table so she can see herself while you are changing her? Whatever you end up doing will be awesome!

Marc Broussard-Gavin's Song
Allison Krauss-Baby Mine
Norah Jones-Seven Years
Bob Dylan-She Belongs To Me (not really a "daughter" song, but it could stretch. Check it out.)
Eric Clapton-Tears in Heaven (same)
Martina McBride-In My Daughter's Eyes
Lenny Kravitz-Little Girl's Eyes
Beastie Boys-She's Crafty
Guns n' Roses-Sweet Child of Mine

I can't believe that the baby is almost here!

Have you thought about "Have I Told You Lately" by Rod Stewart? Or "You are the Sunshine of My Life" by Stevie Wonder? Two of my favorites!

I love you and miss you dearly :)

I love Daddy's Hands by the Judds! It's more for your baby girl singing to her daddy!

Cute picture of you and Brad!

Barbra Streisand had a Christmas song titled The Best Gift. I always wanted a baby at Christmastime so I could claim the song as my own. You'll love it, but I'm going to keep thinking.

I am dying over Megan's comment. Man, that's a great song.

My favorite is Godspeed (Sweet Dreams) by the Dixie Chicks. It makes me cry every time I hear it, but its also about baby boys, so it might not have the same effect on you. Its still a great song, though. :)

It's called "turn around" several artists recorded this song, but Dick and Dee Dee are probably the most famous.

I have to warn you though, most people cry when they hear it even when they are not emotional. you are screwed.

ooooh, I just thought of another one! "one boy, one girl" by Clay Walker Yes its about twins but still you get the whole parenthood vibe.

The greatest song for a baby girl is Capri by Colbie Caillat! I emailed that song to you but I don't know if you got it or not. It is on my blog if you want to listen to it. I consider that mine & Brooklyn's song and it made me cry every time I listened to it while pregnant.
