Yes, that's where I get my squinty eyes from.

This post is dedicated to my dad, who ironically enough, never reads blogs... but what can I expect? Neither does Brad.

So - I gave the YW lesson today in church, and it was all about fathers and the priesthood. I had to choose my words really carefully, because we have so many girls in our ward who don't have fathers in their homes (it turned out okay, because we really focused on choosing a worthy future spouse, instead of dwelling on current situations)... But the whole experience really made me think. While preparing the lesson, I had a lot of time to reflect on my childhood and the positive example and leader that my dad has always been to me. I guess I just didn't realize how lucky I am.

My dad is seriously the best. He is hilarious. He has this really dry sense of humor, which is sometimes a front for his very deep, very personal emotions. He has always gone out of his way to make all of us kids feel special and loved. He has such a strong testimony of the Gospel. He honors his priesthood and he LOVES my mom.

Oh, and he thinks he's Jack Bauer.

I found this picture while rummaging through photos yesterday, and it makes me smile. I can't believe I got my dad to hold my bouquet... actually, I think we've tricked him into doing a lot of things out of character over the years. Like wearing matching home-made t-shirts to senior/father breakfast, or paying Matt to jump into Lacamas Lake in his underoos (in December), or lip-syncing "Leader of the Pack"... what a trooper!

That's great that your dad thinks he's Jack Bauer. SO funny.
Zeb has a very dry sense of humor as well but I guess I don't need to tell you that.
I am with the YW too. What age do you teach? Do you like it? I love the calling. Did I hear that Brad is in the Bishopric? Do tell....It's been a while since we've caught up on things! ;)

We seriously have the best dad, don't we? You've GOT to make sure mom shows this one to dad. What a great post!

Michelle, I have a request...could you tell me when you use "than and then." I'm sure you are aching to give another grammar lesson! :) Seriously though, I don't know when you use which one and figured you could enlighten me! Thanks!

I just told Zeb I asked you this questions and he said, "You didn't know? " So I guess he was just thinking I accidentally typed the wrong word instead of actually not knowing. :)
It makes perfect sense. In fact I had asked someone before since I don't recall the difference at all (maybe I missed that day in class) but it seems like the explanation didn't make sense because I still didn't know. Anyway, thanks for telling me. It is so easy I feel a little stupid now but oh well! :) Okay, I feel really stupid.

You forgot about the time we made him a kilt out of plaid wrapping paper and made him wear it. Or the time we made a Christmas ornament with a picture of him with his shirt off and put it up on the tree. Or the time we made him to the "Master of the House" dance and took pictures. Or the time we made him a t-shirt that said "Boat is a 4-letter word" and laughed at his frustration. Or the time we threw pears off the roof and blamed it on "nature".
I love that man.

what a great post! We need more of these. You are right...you really do have an awesome dad. Really one of the best. And...I might add...is ageless. He still looks the same as he did 15 years ago. Great genes you've inherited! I think that if we had more men like your dad the world would be a better place. I really do love and admire your parents. They simply are the best!
